Job Description Programme for the Armed Forces Community

Eastern Counties / South Midlands / Watford / Bristol / Northampton

Build connections. Build your career

Here at Barratt, we're not just about bricks and mortar. We're about fulfilling ambitions. Opening doors. Creating a real sense of belonging. That's how we work with our customers. And that's exactly what you can expect from us if you join us. As a FTSE 100 company, our business is very wide-reaching. Every year, our business builds and sells thousands of new homes ranging from starter and family homes, through to exclusive luxury apartments. All this means we’re a big business, employing over 6,000 people in locations across the United Kingdom.

Careers built to last

Our homes are built to last, and the same is true of our careers. We have a huge range of projects lined up and we need great people like you to make them a reality. If you’ve had a career in the Armed Forces and are looking to transition into construction management our Trainee Assistant Site Manager programme is the perfect route for you.

Armed Forces Programme

Our Barratt Academy programmes are industry recognised, and this opening will bring exciting challenges and great career opportunities. Starting in October 2017, it will only take you 12 months to compete your training programme.

What you’ll gain

There’s a comprehensive induction programme from the moment you join, supported by training and development, covering a range of skills and additional learning. There’s ongoing support from the construction team to ensure you get all the training you need, both in essential site management skills, and also to enhance and refresh the people skills that you have already gained from being in the Armed Forces.
How far you go will be driven by you. Where there is passion, the ability to see the bigger picture, ambition, appreciation of customer service and building relationships, and someone who can drive change, we see our Site Managers and even Contracts Managers and Directors of the future on this programme. Your own personal career aspirations, your ability to perform and hunger to succeed, will drive the rate and pace of career opportunities and further development available.

Personal qualities

We’re looking for people who are resilient and driven, self-confident and self-disciplined articulators, with excellent time management skills. You’ll also need to be able to remain calm and controlled under pressure whilst supporting the people in your team.
Qualifications Required Who are we looking for?

We're ideally looking for candidates that have strong leadership and management skills, who have the ability to think outside the box, problem solve and work under pressure, whilst maintaining the very highest of standards. If you have experience related to construction, so much the better, but if you can demonstrate a passion for our business, we’re ready to listen. You'll also need to develop a clear understanding of housebuilding and how you want your career to progress.
Salary From £24,000 + benefits
