I Love My New Home! PDF Print E-mail

L&Q’s part buy, part rent scheme (known as New Build HomeBuy) is an exciting opportunity that allows you to pay a mortgage on the share of the home you own and a subsidised rent on the part you don’t...

As your income rises you can increase the share you own, until you eventually own 100%.  You can choose from a selection of L&Q's brand new homes across London.   To find out more about homes available in North, South, East and West London,  contact L&Q on 0844 406 9800  www.lqgroup.org.uk

Ravneesh Atwal, 26 from North London is a secondary school English Teacher. She had always wanted to buy her own place but it was living with her Auntie in Tower Hill, while studying for her PGCE, she decided to live in London. Ravneesh went on to buy a two bedroom home at Woodland Apartments in North London through L&Q.

Ravneesh registered on housingoptions.co.uk about a year and a half before she was ready to buy a home so that when the time came she was all set to go. It was her friend that came across Woodland Apartments on the website and insisted that she looked at it. Looking through the virtual tour of the show home helped her visualise how she could fit furniture in and it was this that eventually persuaded her to book a viewing.

She loved the development so much that she reserved an apartment on her first visit. Two weeks later Ravneesh found out she had been allocated her first choice apartment and was so happy she jumped up and down; “I had been so annoyed that I couldn’t find the right place and when I found this one I was really pleased. I kept looking at the virtual tour whilst I was waiting to hear and when I heard I had got my first choice I thought, yes I got the one with the window in the kitchen!”

Ravneesh says her neighbours are really friendly and everyone talks to one another in the corridors and lift. She loves the size of her rooms and the location of the development as it is easy for her to travel to work and back home to Slough. Above all, she loves the freedom it has given her. “The best thing is being able to come home from work to my own place. It makes me very proud. I love being social and having people round so it’s nice to have my own space. Being able to mark my papers on the balcony is also great.”
